  • Pollock Theater
  • Screening Format: 4K digital projection (30 minutes)
  • With Angie Ruiz (filmmaker)

Wonders of the Wolf is a documentary about one of the most successful conservation efforts in modern history: the Yellowstone Wolf Project. From their historic recovery in 1995 to today’s current wolf packs, biologists share stories about the wolves they observe daily in the park. Using innovative technology in bioacoustics, biologists are learning how wolves communicate and applying it toward solutions in human/wildlife conflicts.

Filmmaker Angie Ruiz will join moderator Sarah Anderson (Bren School, UCSB) for a post-screening discussion of Wonders of the Wolf and the Yellowstone Wolf Project. A reception will follow in the Michael Douglas lobby.

This event is free but a reservation is recommended in order to guarantee a seat.

Moderator Sarah E. Anderson (Bren School, UCSB)

Sarah E. Anderson is a Professor and the Associate Dean for Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion at the Bren School of Environmental Science & Management at the University of California, Santa Barbara. She studies how the public and politics influences policy. For example, her research focuses on how the public drives agencies’ wildfire prevention, public constraints on grizzly bear reintroductions, and how primary voters lead legislators to reject compromise. Her research is shaped by her experience in Washington, D.C. working for a U.S. member of Congress, and her interest in environmental issues comes from growing up in Montana, where she lived when the first wolves were reintroduced.

This event is sponsored by the Carsey-Wolf Center and the Bren School of Environmental Science and Management.
