Former Graduate Student Researchers

Alex Champlin received his BA in English and Sociology from the University of California, Riverside and his MA in American Culture Studies from Bowling Green State University in Ohio. PhD candidate in the Department of Film and Media Studies at the University of California, Santa Barbara. He studies spectator videogaming as an emergent media phenomenon. He is interested in the ways that play and game cultures shift as games become broadcast texts.
